Hepatitis C a 'silent epidemic' among baby boomers

Called the "silent epidemic," hepatitis C is wreaking havoc on the population of baby boomers not just in New Jersey, but across the country. According to a report issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in excess of 2 million baby boomers are known to be infected with the virus, and 15,000 victims die from hepatitis C-related illnesses annually. Additionally, there is an estimated 800,000 individuals infected with the virus that don't know it.

Lung condition now getting SSDI fast-track action

Back in May we wrote about the fact that the Social Security Administration had added 52 conditions to the list of those that should receive so-called "compassionate allowances." What that means for New Jersey individuals is that applications for Social Security disability for illness based on those conditions are to receive faster processing; meaning swifter receipt of benefits to those who qualify.
