Social Security may be able to help the homeless in New Jersey

Homelessness is a chronic problem in New Jersey and throughout the United States. There are an estimated 500,000 people said to be homeless in the country, and of those, about 50,000 live on the streets. Often, these individuals do not have any idea where to turn to for a helping hand, but there are a number of governmental programs that can help.

Disability benefits problematic for some veterans

For those in New Jersey not able to work because of a serious injury, Social Security disability benefits can be a huge help. The money you receive can help supplement the income you may have lost.

High unemployment rate for those receiving disability benefits

A new study revealed that people with disabilities have a higher rate of unemployment. Since the start of the recession in the last quarter of 2007, almost 11 million people have applied for Social Security Disability benefits in New Jersey and throughout the country. As of September, almost 9 million workers were receiving Social Security Disability benefits, with more than 2 million people filing claims in this year alone.
